This person must also be able to preform work related to the protection of life and property through the enforcement of State law and local ordinance, must be a minimum of 20 years of age at the time of appointment and must demonstrate experience in dealing with the public in a customer service environment. The applicant must be Level 2 or Level 3 certified as a police officer in the State of Vermont or able to pass a waiver program to achieve these levels. Must pass a background check, produce a verification of education, and have a valid Vermont drivers’ license at time of employment. The Town of Rockingham is seeking 1-2 volunteers to serve as Town Constable. All Constables have powers specifically enumerated in 24 V.S.A. § 1936a (b). These duties include the power to:

-Remove disorderly people from town meeting (17 V.S.A. § 2659)
-Collect taxes when no tax collector is elected (24 V.S.A. § 1529).
